As I look back over the past decade of photographing love stories across the Texas Hill Country, I’m reminded of how every session has led me somewhere new — a place, a moment, a feeling. This series, “Where the Light Led Me,” is a reflection of those journeys. Each photograph, each couple, has shaped my vision and my heart in ways I never expected.
Kaitlin and Jeff’s engagement session from May 2, 2021, at Hoffman Haus in Fredericksburg, Texas, and Lady Bird Johnson National Park was one of those beautiful reminders — that light, love, and laughter always find their way.
A Modern Love Story
Kaitlin and Jeff met online through the Coffee Meets Bagel dating app. Kaitlin almost didn’t match with Jeff because she recognized someone she knew in one of his profile pictures — but his hilarious bio caught her attention. She swiped right, and that one decision started the sweetest love story.
A Proposal to Remember
A few months into the pandemic lockdown, Jeff called out to Kaitlin from the back room. Thinking he was stuck (since the door sometimes jams), she hurried to open it — only to find him on one knee, dressed in a suit, holding his grandmother’s ring. It was the most unexpected and genuine moment, filled with laughter and tears.
The Session: Light, Laughter, and Love
We began their session at Hoffman Haus, one of my favorite Fredericksburg engagement locations. The property’s charming architecture, soft light, and lush gardens created the dreamiest backdrop for their session. Kaitlin’s pastel dress and Jeff’s relaxed style perfectly matched my light and airy photography aesthetic — every frame glowed with warmth and romance.
As the sun began to dip, we made our way to Lady Bird Johnson National Park. The golden-hour light was absolute magic. Kaitlin and Jeff walked hand-in-hand through the open fields, laughing and stealing sweet glances as the sun slipped behind the hills. It was the perfect ending to their Fredericksburg engagement session — simple, heartfelt, and full of joy.
A Celebration of Joy
Kaitlin and Jeff’s engagement session was more than just beautiful — it was authentic. From quiet moments to fits of laughter, every frame captured the joy they bring to one another. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding day and continue documenting their love story as it unfolds.
Reflecting on the Journey
Looking back on this 2021 session, I can’t help but feel grateful. These are the moments that define why I love being a Texas Hill Country wedding and engagement photographer. The soft light, the laughter, and the real, unposed emotion — they’re what inspire me every single time.
As I continue “Where the Light Led Me” and my 10th year in business in 2026, I’m reminded that each couple and each photograph is a part of my story too. Kaitlin and Jeff’s session will forever be one that shines brightly in that legacy.
