Where the Light Led Me

An introduction to a year of reflection, gratitude, and growth

January 1st always feels like a deep breath — the pause between what’s been and what’s still waiting to unfold. This year, that pause feels extra meaningful. I’m stepping into my forties and celebrating a full decade of full-time photography — and about fifteen years since I first picked up a camera.

Before photography was my career, it was my heartbeat. I spent years shooting on weekends, editing late at night, learning the rhythm of light and emotion between all the other pieces of life. In 2016, I finally took the leap into full-time photography, and every click since has shaped me in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

As I step into this milestone year, I can’t help but look back — not just through photos, but through seasons of life. Ten years of weddings, engagements, and family stories have filled my heart (and my hard drives) with more love, laughter, and lessons than I ever thought possible.

This series, Where the Light Led Me, is my way of honoring that journey — revisiting the stories that shaped me, the people who trusted me, and the light that guided me.

Because every gallery isn’t just a project — it’s someone’s memory keeper.
It’s a tangible reminder of a day that can never be recreated — the quiet breath before “I do,” the joyful chaos of a dance floor, the hug between generations. These moments are more than photographs — they’re tiny time capsules, holding love at its purest.

And as I look through my older work, I’m not just seeing others’ milestones — I’m seeing my own evolution as an artist. Each image marks another step in how I see light, emotion, and connection. Each gallery tells a story, not only of the couple in front of my lens, but of the woman behind it — the one learning, growing, and finding her voice through the click of a shutter.

Looking back reminds me that my work has always been about more than images. It’s about people — the way love looks when it’s unguarded, the beauty of family roots, the joy that fills a room when two souls choose each other.

So as I turn the page to a new decade of life and a new chapter of business, I’m grateful for every gallery that brought me here — for every couple who trusted me, every vendor who collaborated, and every sunset that caught my breath.

Here’s to the past that built me, the present that inspires me, and the light that keeps me moving forward — one frame, one story, one heart at a time.
