Grace Between Seasons | Allie & Matt’s Engagement

A story of light, laughter, and the quiet grace between seasons.

There’s a kind of light that feels like grace — quiet, patient, and full of promise. This session with Allie and Matt fell right in that sweet spot between fall and winter, where everything slows down and the air feels still.

I always notice the light differently this season. It feels slower, gentler — as if it’s inviting me to pause and remember why I love what I do.

Allie and Matt’s story began back in college at Baylor — two lives that crossed briefly before time and distance carried them apart. Years later, life brought them back together in San Antonio, where they reconnected like no time had passed at all.

“We started dating very quickly after that,” Allie told me with a laugh — the kind of laughter that feels like home.

Just two weeks before our session, Matt proposed in the most thoughtful way: a simple evening at home, surrounded by candles, flowers, and photos of their story. He told her they were going on a date night — but when she walked in, he asked her to marry him right there.

Afterward, they celebrated with champagne at their first date spot and dinner with both of their families. Simple. Meaningful. Perfectly them.

If you’ve followed my storytelling journey, you know I’m drawn to the way love finds its rhythm in unexpected seasons. Their connection reminded me of Talyn’s bridal portraits — full of warmth, gratitude, and quiet light.

That same warmth carried through their engagement session — laughter spilling out between every pose, soft light dancing over the Hill Country, and a kind of love that already feels like home.

Maybe that’s what grace looks like — the way love and light meet us in transition. The space between seasons, where the heart pauses, and everything feels possible.

Photographing Allie and Matt felt like standing right in that in-between — between what has been and what’s just beginning. Their joy was new, yet grounded in something timeless.
